Dr. Purushottam Bung is a distinguished academic administrator and scholar whose professional journey reflects resilience, intellectual curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to education. Trained as an electronics engineer, his early career included a challenging yet formative phase as an entrepreneur, an experience that shaped his practical understanding of business realities, risk-taking, and innovation. This exposure eventually reinforced his true calling—teaching, research, and institution-building—prompting his transition into full-time academia.
With over 26 years of rich experience spanning academia and industry, Dr. Bung has served across several prestigious domestic and international institutions, contributing to teaching excellence, research advancement, and academic leadership. His interdisciplinary background enables him to bridge technical thinking with management education, offering students a balanced perspective that integrates analytical rigor with real-world application.
Currently, Dr. Bung srves as Professor and Director at RV Institute of Management (RVIM), Bengaluru, one of India’s leading management institutions. In this role, he provides strategic direction and leadership for the institute’s holistic development. His responsibilities encompass academic planning, research and innovation, student development, placements, industry engagement, consultancy, alumni relations, and social outreach initiatives. Under his stewardship, RVIM continues to strengthen its academic reputation while aligning management education with evolving industry and societal needs.
Prior to joining RVIM, Dr. Bung held the position of Director and Professor at KLS Institute of Management Education and Research (KLS IMER), Belgaum, from July 2011, a well-regarded management institution in Karnataka. During his tenure, he played a key role in institutional transformation, academic restructuring, and the enhancement of industry-oriented learning frameworks.
